Technical Specification

A surface is only as dependable as the standard it is tested against.

Venicera porcelain and ceramic are classified to MS ISO 13006 and tested under the ISO 10545 series. The table below sets the international requirement beside the specification our collections are supplied to meet. Use it to compare groups. Use the series sheet when a drawing needs a named product.

01

Classification first

Every surface belongs to a group under MS ISO 13006. The group is set by water absorption, and it decides which tests apply.

02

Tighter than the minimum

Where the standard allows a range, Venicera is supplied inside a narrower tolerance — on dimension, flatness, and strength.

03

Confirm the series

Slip rating, shade grade, and PEI class can vary by finish. Ask our project team for the sheet that matches the series you are specifying.

Oil / wet ramp ≥ R9

Slip resistance is stated as an oil / wet ramp of at least R9 and depends on the surface finish. Polished faces are excluded from some stain classes. Chemical resistance on a cut edge can differ from the glazed face.

Before you specify

Shade is a property, not a defect.

V1

Uniform

Minimal variation. Pieces from the same lot read as one tone.

V2

Slight

A quiet shift in tone. Best laid from several cartons at once.

V3

Moderate

Clear variation within a single colour. The variation is part of the design.

V4

Substantial

Strong contrast from piece to piece. Expect a random, natural field.

Installation

Porcelain needs the adhesive that matches its density.

Low porosity leaves very little for a standard cement adhesive to key into. For porcelain, specify an improved adhesive to EN 12004 or ISO 13007-1, with a minimum bond strength of 1 N/mm². Where a product carries that classification, follow the adhesive manufacturer’s open time, notch, and coverage.

Care

Acid, alkali, and fluoride will mark a polished face.

All porcelain can etch if it is left in contact with fluoride compounds or with a high concentration of acid or alkali. Keep those cleaners off the surface. For day-to-day care, use a pH-neutral cleaner and the recommendation printed for that series.

Colour and shade can still shift between firings. That variation is inherent to ceramic. For a named series, thickness, or slip rating, write to the project department.
